Today I am getting ready for a short trip to Seattle. I will be gone until June 15th. Please feel free to browse my site and take a look at the free patterns. Also, don't forget to check out my old site: http://wicketstich.blogspot.com/ for patterns previous to March 2007. I have some wonderful members looking after my Yahoo Groups while I am gone. Please feel free to check those groups out as well. They are full of some very fun people. Thanks to everyone for keeping things going while I take care of family business.

Serene Yarn and Good Timing!
My daughter and her fiancé came by this last weekend. We will be having a wedding on September 29th. This is one day before my birthday and four days after his mother's birthday. =) The colors are Burgundy and peaches...just like the Sunburst color of this yarn I am working! Care to guess what this project is going to be? lol
This project seems to show itself as different colors at different times. That or my camera just does not want to cooperate.

I have decided that I love the soft feel of this acrylic yarn so much that I am going to create a shawl pattern for it. I will post more information as I develop this idea. I love the feel once you begin to work with the Serene. There is also some other very lovely colors.

I am going to be making more projects with this soon. =)
Now, on to wedding planning and getting ready for my trip to Seattle! If you do not hear from me in a timely manner remember that I will have things back to normal around the 15th of June. Then all I have to deal with is wedding plans! lol

Latest Happenings and ...Tagged!
I have been working on a few pattern ideas that I have. I can not wait to see what they look like. I was asked once what type of patterns I like to knit/crochet and design. Personally I like patterns that are simple but look complex. For example, if you knit a seaman’s scarf you will find instructions to knit one side using a provisional cast on. Then you use that cast on to knit the center and other end or vice versa. I do not like to have too many pieces or seams. Even blocking can be a drag sometimes. Because of this I tend to design more items that take less amount of finish work in them. You can see an example of this in my His & Hers Zigg-Zagg Scarf.
Today I started working with some Serene Yarn from Mary Maxim. They also have a Canadian website Mary Maxim Canada. When I received the yarn I did not think that I would like it; but, as I am working with it I have found that the yarn feels very soft once it is crocheted or knitted up. The image below was taken at night and does not do the yarn justice.

This is Serene Yarn by Premier. Serene is a soft 90% acrylic 10% polyamide boucle textured striping yarn with lots of color. This color is Sunset. I have not knitted or crocheted to the lighter marbling yet but I love it so far. It is listed as a Worsted Weight but feels thinner to me. Serene is made in Turkey and comes in a 10.6 oz ball at 300 grams and 655 yards. At Mary Maxim the yarn costs about $14.99 a ball but one ball goes a long way so far! =)
And on a final note...I've Been Tagged!
Cathy (Cat) from craftyncertagged me! I had no idea what was going on but followed the link to her Blog and found out.
Rules of the Game:
1) Reveal Seven (7) random items about myself.
2) Tag Seven (7) people and list their names here. Then direct them to my Blog to read the rules of the game.
Seven Random Things About Me:
1) I married young and just celebrated my 22nd anniversary on the 3rd of May.
2) I love tiny baby dill pickles and mozzarella cheese, with Diet Mountain Dew.
3) My favorite colors are Earthtones, except I also love Amethyst, Emerald and Sapphire combos.
4) I am a cancer survivor of two years.
5) Proud to be from primarily Scottish, with some Eastern European, Romni, and a tiny bit of Native American, heritage.
6) I feel a connection to the Earth and Sky. I am happiest outdoors and in open country away from cities and masses or people.
7) All my children have left home (youngest 19 years old) and are all girls.
Oh, and I get to mention...My youngest daughter accepted a proposal for marriage today!!! I think there will be Fall Wedding! =)
I think that this is a great opportunity to share some fantastic sites with you. Using only people with whom I am familiar with and admire, I have descided to tag the following people:

Beaded Mother’s Day Rose Bookmark©

There are three versions of this bookmark. One with Beads (shown), one made of lace, and one made with just the image in knit and purl. You may find the other versions on my Free Patterns Group site: Wicket Stitch Patterns
The Mother’s Day Rose Set is a set of a Dishcloth, Hand Towel and these Bookmarks.
I hope everyone has a happy Mother's Day.
